Meet Adrienne Domingus, Software Development Engineer at Skilljar

Posted by Sandi Lin on September 1, 2016

Adrienne-Domingus-Skilljar.pngI'm very excited to welcome Adrienne Domingus to the Skilljar team as our Associate Software Development Engineer! Adrienne recently returned to Seattle from Denver, where she spent the first part of her career with the Denver-area public schools in operational and training roles. After several years, she decided to change careers and went back to the Turing School of Software & Design because she loved building systems and software. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Adrienne has already proven that she's taken to software development like a duck to water.

Adrienne will be managing technical relationships with our clients and assisting with their configuration, solutions, and setup. She'll also be supporting the engineering team on various development tasks, and will work directly with clients to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues.

Welcome Adrienne!

Q: What three words would you use to describe yourself?
A: Curious, determined, awkward

Q: What’s your favorite place to visit in Seattle?
A: I don’t think I know yet. I grew up in Issaquah, but just moved back to the Northwest after a decade in Colorado, and don’t feel like I know the area well enough to declare a favorite yet, but I’m excited to get out and explore and find one.

Q: Tea or coffee?
A: Usually neither. I like coffee but have made it this far in life without developing an addiction, and aim to keep it that way. I do love iced peppermint tea in the summer.

Q: What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
A: My cat, Mena. She loves belly rubs and it’s the best.

Q: What inspires you?
A: Solving interesting problems, learning new things. Being around other people who are excited about what we’re building.

Q: How did you first hear about Skilljar, and what interested you about the company?
A: Being new to the Seattle area, I was looking for interesting tech startups and talking to everyone I could about them. I had coffee with Morgan, and she was super excited about her work and the team, which made me think it was something I wanted to be part of too! I also kept hearing that Skilljar was the best in their space, which is always exciting.

Q: Describe your last experience with online learning.
A: Before going back to school full time to learn software development, I did some tinkering with online courses. It was a great way to learn the basics and make sure it was something I wanted to fully commit myself to!

Q: If you were going to offer a course online, what would it be about?
A: Woodworking. I’m not actually very good at it yet, but I’m learning! Maybe I actually just want to take one?
